BEGINNER POLE FITNESS INFO

What is Pole Fitness?

Pole fitness is a form of exercise that combines the sensuality of dance with the strength of gymnastic that is preformed around a stationary vertical pole. Combining the two forms of exercise into flow routine will give you a full body cardio and strength workout.

What to Expect?

There are 3 levels to beginner pole (see below for more details).

Each level is 6 weeks of 1-hour long classes, where we will progressively add on to the strength and skills we learnt the previous weeks.

Class Format:

  • Warm Up & Conditioning

  • Small Review from Previous Week

  • Learn New Moves

  • A Short Choreograph Combo- combining all we have learnt

  • Cool Down & Stretch

** WE encourage participants to repeat levels until they feel comfortable with the moves before moving on the next level.

INTRO TO POLE

LEVEL ONE

Here we will learn the fundamentals of pole fitness, get you comfortable moving around the pole, and body awareness. You will learn basic spins, transitions, terminology, and simple floor work.

BEGINNER POLE
LEVEL 1.5
|Conditioning & Combos|

Pole Level 1.5 is for participants that have completed Level 1 (Intro to Pole) at least once and have a good understanding of the moves. In Level 1.5 we will spend half the class working on strength and conditioning specific to pole that will help move you to the next level. The other half of class will be spent combining moves we learnt in Level 1.

BEGINNER POLE

LEVEL TWO

Level 2 is for those who have completed AT LEAST ONE FULL 6 WEEK SESSION OF INTRO TO POLE LEVEL ONE, and are comfortable with moving forward.

In this level, we will continue to learn more challenging spins, tricks and transitions, and introduce you to pole

sits, climbs and invert preps.

BEGINNER POLE

LEVEL THREE

Level 3 is for when you are ready to kick it up a notch, continuing with inverts (flipping upside down) and climbs! Levels 1 & 2 will start to pay off as we continue to learn more challenging spins tricks and transitions.

FAQ'S

What do I wear?

You can wear whatever YOU feel comfortable in, whether that be leggings and a t-shirt, or booty shorts and a sports bra. As you progress to the higher levels, shorts are encouraged (especially for climbing and inverting, as this will help you grip and stick to the pole). All our classes are done barefoot, or you may wear socks or “Foot Undeez” if you wish.

ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY! We highly encourage you remove all jewelry including rings (yes, wedding rings too!), necklaces, bracelets, and watches before coming to the studio. This will help prevent any injury and wear on the poles.

***Pipes Fitness is not liable for any lost jewelry.

What should I bring?

You may want to bring a yoga mat for warmup and cool down, a water bottle and a pair of shorts (for Levels 2 & 3).

At this time face mask are required to be worn during class as per our COVID guidelines.

Who can Attend Class...are there age limits?

As always, EVERYONE is welcome to our studio, but due to the nature of pole fitness, all participants must be 18 years of age.

Past Injuries:

We do ask that if you have had any shoulder or wrist injuries/surgeries in the past, you must obtain a physician’s approval

(in writing) prior to attending a class.

Is there a weight limit?

There is no weight limit for the Intro to Pole Level 1 or Beginner Pole Level 2. At our studio we are using X-Pole brand poles. X-Pole does not have an “official weight limit labelled. Rest assure, X-Poles are professional grade poles and have and multiple dancers on one pole (300lbs +). We have had every pole professionally installed and are very stable and secure.

Is a Dance Background Required?

Are you worried about not having a dance background or “have no coordination”? Don’t be! Neither do I! You will be surprised at how coordinated you are after a few classes. Remember, you must walk before you can run. Just show up and have fun!

“I Have No Upper Body Strength”!

The best part about Pole Fitness is that it trains your upper body (was well as the rest of it) From the very first class we start building the strength we need to progress to the next move!

Refund/Cancelation Policy:

When you purchase a 6-week session, you are guaranteeing your spot (in the same day/time) for the next 6 weeks, nobody else can take it. This means that ALL SALES ARE FINAL due to the limited number of spots and classes currently available. In the event of extenuating circumstances (such as illness, injury, or other emergency), please contact us to discuss. Potential rebooking will be determined on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
